Vintage train set with track

I'm a lil lost about the size of this train. From rail to rail the track measures 1.75 inches. When I look that up it's says G guage. However I have a NIB track that is G guage and it is a hair larger. None of the trains have been tested as I do not have much knowledge with trains sets.
