Vintage from the 1940s
Materials: Silver
When I saw this lovely casserole, the first thing that came to my mind was ”Elegant dining.” The soft scalloped molded edges with unpretentious relief give the piece a timeless and classic look.
I then realized that it is not only pretty, but also a very practical casserole because it is designed so that the cover can also be used safely for serving. (See picture.)
The oval casserole is 11 ½” long and 9” wide. It has a Chippendale pattern, which was created by Wallace Silversmiths of CT. in 1940
The casserole is in a very good condition. There are only minor fine hair size scratches on the bottom, which must have happened when it was put on a rough surface. I did not polish the casserole because some people prefer old silver with patina. You may see its good condition and what it looks like with the original polish in the pictures of its inside.
