Shun Classic Blonde 7" Santoku Knife

The new Shun Classic Blonde series features our 69-layer Damascus-clad blades and PakkaWood handles in a light and beautiful natural wood tone. From their high-performance VG-MAX cutting core to the exquisite flowing pattern of the Damascus cladding, to their polished end caps, these remarkable, handcrafted knives offer the same premium performance and materials as original Shun Classics. They are ultra-sharp, durable, beautifully balanced, and simply magnificent to behold. Our initial offering includes five of the most-wanted culinary blade shapes.

These traditional Japanese-style handles have a slight ridge on the right side, which fits into the curl of the fingers for a comfortable and secure grip. Viewed end-on, the shape resembles the capital letter "D". Pakkawood is waterproof, incredibly durable, and won't harbor bacteria.

The name of Shun's Classic Blonde Santoku Knife means "three virtues" in Japanese. This refers either to the three types of foods it works especially well with – vegetables, proteins, and fruit, or the three types of cuts at which it excels: slicing, dicing, and chopping. Slightly shorter than the standard chef's knife, a Santoku is very easy to maneuver, especially in a smaller space. There's just enough belly curve to enable rocking cuts, which enhances the knife's versatility. Meat, fish, or vegetables, the refined and accurate cuts enabled by Shun knives may lead to some of the best cooking (and eating) experiences you and your guests will ever have. Crafted from our proprietary VG-MAX cutting steel with Damascus cladding that resists corrosion and holds an edge.
