The title of this book and exhibition is derived from the large-format work "Nocturne" (2004-2010), which captures moonlit landscapes with long exposures. These works evoke Romantic landscapes in their European variations and classical Japanese and Chinese landscape paintings in their Asian motifs. The absence of shadows in these photographs is evidence that time itself has been frozen. Light does not illuminate the landscape, but rather floats as if it emanates from the landscape.
