This is a beautiful mid-century era handblown glass vase from Murano, Italy. Artist unknown.
My mother was a collector & had many beautiful pieces.
Measures 8.75” tall and about 6 1/8” across widest part (top).
With its clear to cobalt blue ascending coloring, it is in the bullicante style.
Murano "Bullicante" refers to a specific glassblowing technique used in Murano, Italy, known for its controlled bubbles. The technique involves layering air bubbles within the glass in a grid-like pattern, which is then manipulated with a blowpipe to create a textured, three-dimensional effect.
This results in a distinctive appearance where the bubbles appear to be trapped within the glass, adding depth & visual interest.
This heavy art glass piece weighs 5.5 lbs!
It is in excellent condition (no damage) & the cobalt color is still so vivid & rich. I do not see a mark, signature.
The workmanship is impressive, as is the quality of Murano glass.
