Megalodon Tooth Fossil (Otodus Megalodon)

This 5.34 inch Megalodon tooth is truly a beautiful fossil. It is all natural and non-restored. This specimen includes nearly all of the serrations, which is less common in larger teeth. Megalodon teeth above 5 inches in length become more difficult to find and anything over 7 inches is exceedingly rare.

Paleontologists theorize that every one inch of tooth equals 10 feet of shark length. Following this theory for this example would mean that the fish that this tooth belonged to would have been at least 50 feet long. One misconception that people have around the Megalodon is that they measured 80-100 feet in length, or longer. Researchers estimate that the largest Megalodon grew to nearly 65-70 feet in length.
