Recorded in Reykjavik, Iceland, in August 2012, Crystal World comprises ten original songs written by Marnie with Ladytron colleague Daniel Hunt. Focus track "The Hunter is a rippling bit of Moroder by returning producer Hunt," wrote Pitchfork. "Indeed Crystal World is for all intents and purposes the sixth Ladytron album." Crystal World remains a stylish, slow-burn bestseller praised as an "ice-cool selection of shimmering nouveau synth-pop and frosty ballads" by The List, and "gorgeous and delectably glacial" by The Electricity Club. All ten tracks from the original 2013 release are now joined on Side Four with remixes by Stephen Morris, Mark Reeder and Roman Nose.
