This is a Yama Mine-made Tokujo (highest grade) shogi piece set, featuring the Kinki script, one of the three major calligraphic styles. Master Yama Mine is a komashi (shogi piece craftsman) from Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture, and he is a komashi who carries on the traditions of Tendo. He possesses a wide range of techniques, from carved pieces using boxwood to moriage pieces (raised pieces), and seems to be highly regarded by enthusiasts and collectors. There are 41 pieces, including one extra pawn. Comes with a paulownia wood koma-bako (piece box), koma-bukuro (piece bag), and outer box.
