It will deepen your appreciation for the Japanese obis. A Japanese Obi can be used as an art piece that’s hung on the wall draped over furniture. Some Obis are up cycled to create artwork and other unique pieces. This obi would be a perfect piece to drape over a piece of furniture. The multiple layers of metallic thread and gold sewed into it is stunning. This piece was purchased with a specific fold when it was worn as an obi belt. I never used it but have it stored in a Japanese dresser.
This Obi was purchased in the Geisha District of Kyoto in an antique shop. It has been well kept and has a true Japanese antique smell from being stored in a Japanese wooden dresser. It’s hard to describe the smell but it’s not bad at all. Comes from a smoke free pet free home.
