Born in 1963, Eugene is the son of the blues guitarist Hideaway Slim. His mother was from the Bullock family that same family as Anna Mae Bullock better known as Tina Turner. Eugene claims he got his guitar skills from the Bridges' side and his voice from the Bullocks. Signed to the UK based Blueside label he recorded Born to be Blue, produced by Mike Vernon. When this CD was first released in 1998 it heralded the arrival of a relative newcomer to the European blues scene. The release of Born to Blue coincided with Eugene winning his first award: Vocalist of the Year in Britain's Blueprint magazine. Following the Blueside deal Eugene signed with Armadillo Records and to date he has released six CDs on that label. Eugene has achieved much in the past fourteen years. Not only have his albums featured in the US blues charts, he has also been nominated for many awards among them the 2003 Cammy Awards, the 2008 and the 2011 Blues Music Awards.
