Thank you for viewing.
Hiromu Oshita, affectionately known as "Pon-chan" for his ability to hit the ball with a "pon-pon" sound, was a prominent figure in Japanese baseball right after the war, alongside Tetsuji Kawakami with his red bat and Fumio Fujimura with his long drying pole. He was especially popular among children, and alongside Hibari Misora, he was one of the two biggest national stars in post-war Japan. This listing is for a set of Oshita Hiromu's "menko" (a traditional Japanese game of slapping cards).
The menko in the lower center of the set is particularly valuable, as its back features Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox. Along with the set, we are also including a candy tin that appears to be modeled after Ted Williams (personal opinion).
