Very good condition Crown → Sheffield Assay Office (used until 1974). Lion Passant → Sterling silver (.925). Date letter: “X” in an oval shield → Sheffield, 1840. Maker’s mark (looks like “WP” in a diamond) → Almost certainly a Sheffield silversmith registered with those initials around that period (several candidates; likely William Pearson or William Pinder). So we’re still looking at: Place: Sheffield Year: 1840 Purity: Sterling silver Maker: WP (still narrowing between Pearson, Pinder, or Parkin depending on registry records). That gives you a genuine Victorian sterling silver spoon, Sheffield 1840. 15g
